Ming Chuan college was founded in 1957 in Taipei city. The institution thenexperienced a rapid growth in the 1990s. In 1990, the institution offered coed
programs with a bachelor's degree. With the completion of the construction of two additional campuses andthe introduction of graduate programs, Ming Chuan College was fully upgraded
into Ming Chuan University in 1997.
Ming Chuan University has 11 schools/colleges with 44 undergraduate degree programs, 28postgraduate degree programs and 3 PhD programs. MCU has a student population
